RISD Awarded $549K SSI Community Partnership Grant to Launch Comprehensive Wraparound Services Prog.

Raymondville, TX – Raymondville Independent School District (RISD) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $549,000 SSI Community Partnerships Grant for the 2024-2026 grant cycle. This funding will allow RISD to implement a transformative wraparound services program aimed at addressing the social, emotional, mental health, wellness, and academic needs of students and families in the district.

Central to this initiative is the establishment of the Raymondville Resiliency Center, which will be housed in a renovated building by the LC Smith Elementary campus. The center will serve as a hub for critical services, including counseling, truancy and attendance support, parenting classes, workforce development, GED/ESL programs, and health and wellness services. In partnership with local organizations, the center will also offer access to medical, behavioral health, and substance abuse intervention services.

“The SSI Community Partnerships Grant provides us with a unique opportunity to address the challenges faced by our community with comprehensive and accessible support services,” said Dr. Benjamin A. Clinton, Deputy Superintendent of RISD. “The Resiliency Center will be a beacon of hope and resources for our students and families, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.”

Key components of the program include:

  • Hiring a Social Services Coordinator and Social Services Specialist to manage and deliver wraparound services.
  • Partnering with local organizations to provide counseling, behavioral health, workforce training, and other vital services.
  • Providing transportation for students and families to access the Resiliency Center and partner services.
  • Establishing a financial assistance program to cover out-of-pocket costs for families in accessing care at the RISD Health Clinic.
  • Renovating the building at LC Smith Elementary to create a welcoming and functional space for the Resiliency Center.

The program aligns with RISD’s commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment and equipping families with the tools and resources they need to thrive.
