Raymondville, TX — The Raymondville Bearkat Band has achieved a historic milestone, placing 4th in the state at the UIL 3A Marching Band State Championships held at the Alamodome in San Antonio on November 6. This impressive finish has solidified the Bearkat Band as one of the top 3A bands in Texas, marking a proud moment for Raymondville ISD and the entire community of Willacy County. The Bearkat Band is truly the pride of Willacy County.
Under the direction of Ben Keltner, the Bearkat Band captivated both the crowd and judges with their performance of Flight, a show that artfully blended music, precision, and emotion. The show featured Oscar Garcia, a senior who serves as both drum major and a standout flute soloist, whose performance brought an extra layer of artistry to the band’s remarkable routine.
Deputy Superintendent Benjamin Clinton highlighted the impact of the community’s support throughout the season. “The incredible encouragement from family, friends, and the community has been essential to our success. The support in the stands has lifted our students at every performance.”
