Raymondville ISD Kicks Off Red Ribbon Week with Engaging Presentations

Raymondville ISD campuses are joining the nation in celebrating Red Ribbon Week, with special events and presentations aimed at promoting a drug-free lifestyle. Pittman Elementary and LC Smith Elementary launched the weeklong festivities on Monday, October 21, with engaging sessions that brought vital information to students about the importance of staying drug-free.

At LC Smith Elementary, students were treated to a presentation from Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers Rosenbaum, Monreal, and Salinas, who brought along K-9 Burgis. The officers shared information about Red Ribbon Week, highlighting the legacy of Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, whose courageous efforts in the fight against drugs are honored each year during the weeklong observance. Students were not only inspired by the troopers' work but also had the opportunity to learn about the significant role law enforcement plays in keeping communities safe. A special highlight of the event waa speech delivered by Miss Alayna Carlos, National Elementary Honor Society President, who gave a remarkable presentation on the history of Red Ribbon Week. The event was made possible thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Zamorano, who coordinated the visit.

Meanwhile, Pittman Elementary students were inspired by a visit from local U.S. Border Patrol agents. The agents emphasized the powerful message of Red Ribbon Week, explaining why the observance is so important and sharing how students can make positive choices that will impact their futures. Students learned valuable lessons about staying drug-free and the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy lifestyle. The school took pride in the active engagement of its students, who showed their commitment to living drug-free lives and making positive decisions for their futures.

Both campuses set a strong tone for Red Ribbon Week, reminding students that their choices today help build a brighter, safer future for themselves and their communities.
