Raymondville Bearkat Band Shines in Weekend Competitions, Preparing for UIL Pigskin

On Friday, October 12, the Raymondville Bearkat Band took center stage at two different marching band competitions, bringing home top placements and showing their dedication to excellence.

At the Calallen Bay Area Marching Competition, Raymondville faced stiff competition from 30 bands in class 3A, 4A, and 5A, including several state-qualifying schools. The Bearkat Band earned:

      •     1st Place Drum Major

      •     1st Place Percussion

      •     1st Place Color Guard

      •     1st Place Class 3A

Raymondville was also crowned the Bay Area Overall Grand Champions for the second consecutive year.

The competition was just as fierce at the Crossroads Marching Competition in Robstown, where 30 bands from across the region participated. Raymondville’s success continued, winning:

      •     1st Place Drumline

      •     1st Place Drum Major

      •     1st Place Class 3A

In the final 3A standings in Robstown, Raymondville secured 1st place, followed by Santa Gertrudis Academy in second and Rio Hondo in third.

Deputy Superintendent Benjamin Clinton remarked, "Winning top honors at such competitive events shows the hard work and dedication of our students and band directors. The Raymondville Bearkat Band is setting a standard of excellence, and I know they will continue to make our community proud."

Looking ahead, the band is preparing for the UIL Pigskin Competition on October 19, where they will compete for top ratings and the opportunity to advance further in the marching season. With their recent success, the Bearkat Band is ready to make a strong showing.
