Raymondville ISD to Host Cross Country District Meets

Raymondville Independent School District is proud to announce that it will host the District 32-3A Cross Country Meets at Burnett Stadium and Ray Solis Field, widely recognized as premier sports facilities in Willacy County and among the best in South Texas. The district is excited to welcome student-athletes from across the Valley to these state-of-the-art venues, underscoring its commitment to supporting competitive sports and fostering excellence.

Raymondville's Cross Country teams have concluded their early season schedule at the prestigious Meet of Champions XC Meet, held at Donna North High School. Competing against the best in the Valley, the athletes showcased tremendous growth, with all team members improving their personal records (PR) throughout the season. The season’s demanding challenges prepared the teams well as they head into the district meet, with a focus on advancing to regional competitions.

Notable achievements this season include standout performances from high school athletes Raul Ramirez, Becca Vargas, and Maddy Mota, each of whom medaled in nearly every meet they competed in. Their efforts, along with those of their teammates, set a high standard as the teams aim for top placements at the upcoming district meets.

Raymondville ISD will be hosting two district meets:

  • Middle School District Meet: October 5th, 2024
  • High School District Meet: October 9th, 2024

The High School District meet represents the final opportunity for student-athletes to secure a spot at the regional level, as they look to make their mark on the larger stage of Texas cross country competition.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the district meets and showcasing our incredible facilities,” said Athletic Director, Frank Cantu. “Our athletes have worked hard all season, and we are confident they will continue to excel on their home turf.”
