Raymondville ISD Celebrates Grandparents Day with Drive-Thru Parades at Pittman and LC Smith Elementary Schools

Raymondville, TX – September 9, 2024 – Raymondville ISD schools, Pittman Elementary and LC Smith Elementary, brought smiles and joy to the community as they celebrated Grandparents Day with vibrant drive-thru parades. Pittman Elementary held its event Monday, September 9th, while LC Smith Elementary kicked off the celebrations last Friday, September 6th.

The weather was ideal for both occasions, despite concerns about a tropical disturbance in the Gulf, allowing families to enjoy the festivities without interruption.

At each event, grandparents were warmly welcomed as they drove by the school grounds, greeted by enthusiastic students and staff waving and cheering. The parades offered a special opportunity to honor the role grandparents play in the lives of students, creating an atmosphere of love and appreciation.

Both schools organized their parades with safety in mind, as families lined up in their cars and made their way through designated routes to wave at students and share in the joy of the day. It was a touching way to celebrate the importance of family within the school community.

Raymondville ISD is proud to have hosted these events, recognizing the vital connection between generations and the significant role grandparents play in fostering a supportive educational environment.
