Raymondville ISD to Participate in Million Fathers March on September 20

Raymondville ISD is excited to announce its participation in the Million Fathers March on September 20, 2024. This national initiative encourages fathers and father figures to actively engage in their children’s education by escorting them to school for a day dedicated to strengthening family and community involvement.

While we honor and deeply appreciate the role that mothers play in their children’s education and development, and moms are welcome to participate, this event is specifically focused on challenging fathers and male role models—whether dads, grandfathers, uncles, church leaders, coaches, or other significant male figures—to take an active part. Research consistently shows that children perform better academically and socially when male role models are engaged in their education. The Million Fathers March offers these individuals an opportunity to make a lasting positive impact by simply walking their children to school.

To show appreciation, each Raymondville ISD campus will host a reception on September 20, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. for participating dads, offering breakfast and providing resources and tools to help them stay engaged throughout the school year. These receptions are designed to support and encourage fathers to continue being involved in their child’s academic journey.

"We understand how vital the presence of fathers and father figures can be in the lives of our students," said Dr. Benjamin Clinton, Deputy Superintendent of Raymondville ISD. "This event provides a powerful opportunity for families and the community to unite in support of our children’s education. We hope this is the beginning of ongoing engagement throughout the school year."

In addition to celebrating the importance of fatherhood, Raymondville ISD will provide families with information on how to stay involved in their children’s education to ensure long-term success.
