Raymondville Lady Bearkats: 60's Basketball Legends Inducted into RGV Sports Hall of Fame

On July 13, 2024, the Lady Bearkats from Raymondville were inducted into the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame Team Hall of Honor, for an impressive run in girls basketball during the 60's.

For three years the Lady Bearkats of Raymondville dominated 3A basketball in South Texas.

Raymondville in 1966, 1967 and 1968 went to the UIL state semi-finals.

Members of the team include Rita Holland, Pam Bartelli, Judy Martin, Debbie Page, Janice Stagg, Jean Sullivan, Gail Savage, Judy Bartelli, Karol McGee, Robin Brinkley, Maria Elena Garcia, G. McCorkmick, P. Gilliland, K. Magee, J. Gilliland, K. Griffin, K. Holland, C. Saenz, D. Jetton, D. Page, V Houts, Coach Margret Newberry.

On July 13th the team was honored with the induction ceremony at 6:00 p.m. at the Mission Events Center in Mission.
