Raymondville Bearkat Band Shines on Colorado Tour

The Raymondville Bearkat Band recently returned from an exhilarating and successful trip to Colorado during the week of June 9-15, where they performed at prestigious venues and experienced thrilling outdoor adventures.

The talented Bearkat Band members had the honor of performing a full concert at various venues, including the Royal Gorge National Park and the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Their concert selections included the "Star Spangled Banner," "Armed Forces Salute," "Infinity March," "Manchester March," and several pop songs. Being selected to perform and showcase their talents at these venues was a significant honor and great recognition for the Raymondville Independent School District Bearkat Band.

At the Air Force Academy, the band members learned about cadet life, including how to gain acceptance, what daily life is like, and what it takes to finish a degree while serving in the Air Force. This experience provided them with valuable insights and inspiration.

Beyond their musical performances, the students explored the natural beauty and excitement that Colorado has to offer. They visited Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Elitch Gardens, and attended an MLB game. The band also enjoyed an exhilarating river rafting trip and thrilling hikes, making many wonderful memories along the way.

"We are incredibly proud of our students," said Band Director Ben Keltner. "Their performances were outstanding, and they represented Raymondville with great spirit and enthusiasm. This trip was a fantastic blend of cultural enrichment and personal growth for our band members."

Assistant Band Director Dale LeMarr added, "Many wonderful memories were made, and the Bearkat Band appreciates the support and opportunity to represent RISD across the nation."

Laura Ramirez, a 12th grader, shared her excitement, saying, "I’m going to cherish these moments forever. Thank you, Bearkat Band, for giving me such an outstanding opportunity!"

Andrea Jalomo, also a 12th grader, expressed her gratitude, "Making my last memories with the Bearkat Band in Colorado couldn’t have been more fun and unforgettable. Being able to try new activities, like river rafting and hiking, helped me discover a part of me I never knew existed. Thank you, Bearkat Band, Band Boosters, and Mr. Keltner for the exciting new memories."

The Raymondville Bearkat Band's Colorado tour not only allowed them to perform on a national stage but also provided unforgettable experiences that will inspire their musical journeys for years to come.
