RISD Selects Jessica Acuña as New Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach

Raymondville, TX — Raymondville Independent School District is proud to announce the selection of Jessica Acuña as the new Head Coach for the Varsity Girls Basketball team. With over a decade of teaching and coaching experience across various districts, including Alice, San Diego, and Lyford, Coach Acuña brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Lady Kats.

Coach Acuña has been a dedicated member of Raymondville ISD since 2019. In addition to her work as Varsity Girls Assistant Basketball Coach, she has served as girls athletic coordinator, Myra Green Middle School Science department head, and ACE summer program assistant. Her coaching accomplishments at Raymondville include helping to guide the Varsity Basketball team to the playoffs in 2022 and 2024, leading the JV Softball team to a district championship in 2022, and achieving an undefeated season as the JH Softball Head Coach in 2024.

In addition to her coaching prowess, Ms. Acuña has excelled academically, earning a Science distinction for MGMS in 2022. Her commitment to student-athletes is evident through her organization of summer workouts and her collaborative efforts with the Athletic Director on various projects.
