The LC Smith and Pittman Elementary School Prekindergarten classes recently held Spring Into Literacy Events. The events were a great success with Pre-K students and their families as they participated in a range of fun and engaging activities designed to support their literacy development. The Spring Into Literacy Event was open to all current Prekindergarten students and their families who wanted to explore new and exciting ways to support classroom learning at home. Teachers from both campuses demonstrated how parents can replicate fun and engaging literacy activities using everyday household items such as rice, beans, letters, and other items found in their homes. We believe that literacy is essential for academic success, and are committed to helping parents and families support their children's learning at home. The Spring Into Literacy Event is just one of the many ways we strive to foster a love of learning and provide students with the tools they need to succeed. Both campuses provide full day Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 programs, open enrollment, and tuition-free. We are proud to offer these programs to families in our community, and we are excited to announce that our Summer PreK Program will start on July 3rd. "We are always looking for new and exciting activities to make learning fun for our students and parents, whether at school or home," said Dr. Sandra Nieto, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. "We are elated with the success of our Spring Into Literacy Event and look forward to welcoming new families into our PreK programs in the future.". Both LC Smith and Pittman Elementary Schools are committed to providing high-quality education to all students, and we invite parents to explore our website to learn more about our PreK programs and upcoming events.
